Volunteer

There are more ways to help than you think.

Most parishioners volunteer in something — many in two or three things. The parish is held together by 90% volunteer hours and 10% paid staff. Pick a door below; the office will train you, walk with you, and welcome you home.

  1. Mon – Fri · Direct service

    St. Francis Soup Kitchen

Three shifts a day, Monday through Friday: 7 AM early prep with Daisy, 10:30 AM kitchen helper, 11:45 AM serving the food line. Cook, plate, serve, sit with our guests, or wash dishes. Children 12+ welcome with a parent. Spanish welcomed; English not required.

  2. Sunday morning · Liturgy

    Lectors, ministers, choir, ushers

Read the readings. Distribute Communion. Sing in the choir or play guitar at the Spanish Mass. Welcome guests and pass the basket. Training provided; bilingual ministers especially needed at the 5:00 PM Vigil and 9:00 AM Spanish Mass.

  3. Year-round · Children

    Religious Education catechist

Sundays from September through Easter, K-8 grades. Walk a small group of children through their faith year — readings, songs, the Mass, the saints. Background check + Safe Environment training required. The most rewarding hour of your week.

  4. Holy Week + holidays

Vía Crucis · Las Posadas · Christmas Eve

For three days a year, the whole parish is on its feet. Costumes, choreography, candles, tamales. Volunteer captains run each event; new volunteers always welcome. Everyone has a role, even if it’s carrying a candle.

  5. Behind the scenes

Casa Romero · Office · Maintenance

Pack a kitchen-starter box for a Casa Romero family. Help with the bulletin assembly. Mow the church lawn. Drive an elderly parishioner to a medical appointment. Sometimes the most parish thing is the smallest one.
