Worship · Faith Formation
Religious Education
Forming the next generation in the faith is one of the most important things we do as a parish. Our program walks with children toward First Communion, Confirmation, and a lifelong friendship with Jesus.
When we meet
Sundays · 10:15 – 11:30 AM
St. Francis Community Center
1453 Zarker St., Harrisburg, PA
Classes are offered in both English and Spanish. Registration is open year-round — enrollment runs August through September, and late enrollments are always welcome.
The journey, grade by grade
- Grades K–2 Sunday School — the foundations of prayer and the sacraments. First Communion preparation begins in first grade, with First Reconciliation in second grade.
- Grades 3–5 Continued Sunday classes — growing in faith and community after First Communion.
- Grades 6–8 Middle-school catechesis and youth formation, leading into Confirmation preparation.
- Grades 7–8 Confirmation preparation — a two-year track that culminates with a retreat and the sacrament in eighth grade.
For adults
OCIA — Becoming Catholic
OCIA — the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults — is the path for adults who want to become Catholic, or who were baptized but never received Communion or Confirmation. There is no rush and nothing to prove: we walk together, at your pace, beginning with weekly gatherings each September. Whether you are sure or just curious, you are welcome to come and ask.
Questions? Call the office and we will connect you with the right catechist.
