Paulina “Paula” Infante

Paulina “Paula” Umpierre Infante, 87, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 27, 2026, in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted Catholic, Paulina found strength and comfort in her faith throughout her life. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her ability to make others laugh, and the joy she brought to those who knew and loved her.

Born on December 19, 1938, in Patillas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan Belen Umpierre Y Rodriguez and Damasia Infante De Umpierre. In 1964, Paulina moved from Puerto Rico to the United States, where she built a life centered around the people she loved most—her family.

Paulina carried her Puerto Rican heritage with her wherever she went. She shared her love for her culture through her cooking, especially during the holidays, which held a special place in her heart. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter were among her favorite times of the year, when she would spend countless hours preparing traditional Puerto Rican dishes such as pasteles, pernil, arroz con gandules, arroz con dulce, and coquito. For Paulina, the holidays were not simply about the food; they were about bringing the people she loved together, filling her home with family, friends, laughter, and memories.

She created many cherished memories with her children through simple moments spent together—fishing, picnicking, enjoying the outdoors, playing marbles, and sharing time as a family. She nurtured and loved her children in the best way she knew how, always creating a sense of home and belonging.

Paulina was the last of her siblings to pass. She will be lovingly remembered for her devotion to her family, her generous heart, her Puerto Rican traditions, her faith, her humor, and the many memories created around her table and in her home.

Paulina is survived by her children, Angel Orozco; Ana Maple and her husband, Percy Lee Maple, Sr.; Antonia Gomez-Bowman, widow of the late Darnell Bowman; Antonio Gomez; Wilfredo Infante; Paulina Nieves; and Enrique Nieves. She leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her three eldest children, Gladys Esther Orozco, Jose Enrique Orozco, and Maria Magdalena Orozco.
